INAUGURATION OF GEOTHERMAL PROJECT IN HIMACHAL PRADESH, INDIA
Mr. Jagat Singh Negi, Revenue and Horticulture Minister of Himachal Pradesh and H.E. Mr. Benedikt Hoskuldsson, Ambassador of Iceland inaugurated a geothermal energy powered fruits and nuts drying facility in Kinnaur district set up by Geotropy, an Icelandic company in co-operation with Himachal Pradesh Government on 13 August 2024.
The Minister also laid the foundation stone for a first-of-its-kind geothermal energy cold storage project in the presence of the Ambassador, Chairman and CEO of Geotropy.
The Ambassador in his address at the inaugural event underlined the importance of these projects in empowering local farmers economically and strengthening food and energy security in the region. The Icelandic company in cooperation with local communities and government plans to develop these facilities across the region.
