Puga Geothermal Power Project , Drilling has commenced with Experts from ÍSOR
Iceland GeoSurvey (ÍSOR) has secured an agreement with the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), one of the largest oil companies in India, for the development of a geothermal power plant in the Puga Valley in Ladakh.
This will be India’s first geothermal power plant which is located at an altitude of 4,400 metres above sea level. ÍSOR’s partners in the project include the engineering firm Verkís, and the Indian company, Techon Consulting.
The drilling has commenced with experts from ÍSOR monitoring the project at site.
