Icelandic Film Festival in Chennai from 26 to 27 November 2021
Ambassador Guðni Bragason opened an Icelandic film festival in Chennai on 26th November 2021, held in cooperation with the Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation and its General Secretary E. Thangaraj at the Tagore National Film Centre. In his address the Ambassador said that this was the first Icelandic cultural event with Indian partners since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.The festival opened with the film Echo by Rúnar Rúnarsson. Screened during the festival were also A White, White Day by Hlynur Pálmason and the County by Grímur Hákonarson. Cultural representative Deepika Sachdev discussed Icelandic-Indian film cooperation, Cine Artist Ms. Shylaja Chetlur discussed the experience of filming in Iceland´s unique landscape and surroundings and Katragadda Prasad, the President of the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, reiterated the interest of Indian film companies of working with Icelandic partners.
