Ambassador Guðni Bragason met with the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh State, Mr Jai Ram Thakur on 23rd July in Delhi. They discussed the utilization of geothermal energy in the state, especially a geothermal cold storage project about to start in Kinnaur by the Icelandic GEG Power company, using geothermal energy to preserve food and thus strengthen food security. The company has also received a grant assistance from the Sustainable Development Goal Fund of the Foreign Ministry of Iceland. The utilization of geothermal energy in the state could also benefit tourism and fish farming, as well as housing, schools and community facilities.
