Ambassador Stefansson presents credentials to the President of Nepal
Ambassador of Iceland, H.E. Mr. Gudmundur Arni Stefansson presented his credentials to the President of Nepal, Smt. Bidhya Devi Bhandari on 13 February 2020. During his visit he had a fruitful meeting where they discussed common interests being countries of mountains with harsh weather conditions, glaciers and both focusing on tourism. In that context both expressed concern on the climate change affecting the North, the Arctic as well as the Himalayan area, the “third pole”.
The Ambassador also had a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Nepal, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali. They both stressed the importance of close cooperation between the countries and other international issues. He also had a meeting with Kristjan Edwards, an Icelandic citizen who with his family is running a prominent tourist company in Nepal for decades and met with people from the business community in Kathmandu.
