Artist and Architect Guðjón Bjarnason exhibits in New Delhi.
“IslANDs” was the theme of an exhibition of the works of Guðjón Bjarnason Artist and Architect at the Habitat Centre in New Delhi, held in cooperation of Dr Alka Pande, Director of the Visual Arts Gallery and the Embassy of Iceland.
The artworks and the exhibition as a whole have as a background a reference to the threat posed by global and ocean warming due to climate change and its rapid impact on the Earth's glaciers. The exhibition was curated by Ásthildur Jónsdóttir who stated that „Guðjón Bjarnason's works reflect the connection between man and nature. Human behavior is a fundamental element of his phenomena, the traces that the human being leaves behind his existence.“
Also shown were design works that were exhibited at the Venice Biennale, including various architectural and planning proposals at the conceptual stage prepared for governments and private parties in New York, China, Iceland and India, as well as construction projects that have been built all over India, such as SICPAC, the international music and cultural centre in the capital of the state of Meghalaya, Shillong in north-east India.
The Artist introduced his works and Ambassador Guðni Bragason mentioned in his opening words that the message of the works was related to Iceland´s emphasis on sustainable development.
