Recently, much ink has been spilled on the topic of what the Canadian economy will look like in an eventual post-pandemic economy where inflationary pressures and a turbulent geopolitical environment feature prominently.

The Embassy of Iceland in Ottawa and the Icelandic Canadian Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) invited guests to a conversation with EDC’s Ross Prusakowski on Canada’s short and medium-term economic outlook in this context. Key economic indicators were reviewed, including trends related to Canada’s energy sector and consumer confidence.

Ross Prusakowski is the acting Director of EDC’s Economic and Political Intelligence Centre (EPIC). EPIC is responsible for country and sector risk analysis and highlighting risks to the global economy to EDC and its customers and partners.

During nearly a decade with EDC, Ross has led EDC Economics’ forecasting committee, served as the analyst for Canada, countries in the Middle East and North Africa, and for the energy, aerospace, and forestry sectors. Prior to joining EDC, Ross worked as an economist for the Conference Board of Canada working on energy, environment, and transportation policy issues and as an economist with the Government of Alberta. Ross holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Ottawa as well as an undergraduate degree in economics and history from the University of Alberta.
