Ambassador Kristín A. Árnadóttir, new Permanent Representative of Iceland in Vienna.

Ambassador Árnadóttir presents her letter of credence to Ms. Ghada Fathi Waly, Director of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

On 1 May 2021 Ambassador Kristín A. Árnadóttir took up her duties as Permanent Representative of Iceland in Vienna. The Permanent Mission of Iceland is accredited to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Preparatory Committee for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Iceland places great emphasis on targeted participation in defense and security co-operation within the OSCE. This year Sweden is leading the Chairmanship. Important work is done by the OSCE institutions in the field of human rights and democracy. The OSCE has 57 member states and Vienna is an important forum for consultations. Ambassador Árnadóttir presented her letters of credence to the above-mentioned international organizations and had several meetings with their managing directors. During the last months the activity of the organizations was effected by the restrictions of the pandemic, but is now turning back to normal.
