Icelandic Police Participates in an OSCE Conference "Alliance Against Trafficking in Persons", Vienna, 8-9 April 2019.

Using technology to combat trafficking in human beings was the subject of the 19th Alliance Against Trafficking in Persons conference at the OSCE Headquarters in Vienna on 8th and 9th April 2019. The conference was attended by two Detective Inspectors from the Suðurnes Police (includes Keflavík Airport); Mr. Gunnar Rúnarsson and Mr. Eiríkur Guðni Ásgeirsson, and Detective Chief Inspector Ms. Erla Dögg Guðmundsdóttir from the Reykjavik Area Police. 

Speakers included Ms. Halla Gunnarsdóttir, Special Adviser to the Icelandic Government on Gender Equality, and the Director of ODIHR, Ms. Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir. At the conference several ways and means were discussed in order to turn the technical liability into an asset in fighting human trafficking. The participation of a gender expert and the police emphasised the importance Icelandic authorities attach to the fight against human trafficking.
