Iceland and Japan hold economic consultations in Tokyo
Last week Iceland and Japan held their first economic consultations in Tokyo. Led by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the delegation included participants from the Ministry for Industries and Innovation and representatives from the Icelandic Embassy in Tokyo.
At the meeting, the Icelandic delegation stressed its wish to initiate formal proceedings for free trade negotations with Japan. Japan continues to be an important market for Icelandic products and services – the largest export market for Iceland in Asia.
The parties also discussed possibilities for increased bilateral investment and possible opportunities in innovation and startup collaboration.
