Nordic Cinema Art Week: Sustainable Stories
Between the 25th and 28th of February, the Nordic diplomatic missions in Beijing co-hosted with Danish Culture Center a film festival titled “Nordic Cinema Art Week: Sustainable Stories”, with an emphasis on cinema presenting Nordic values and ideas on environmental protection and sustainability.
Iceland´s contribution was the 2018 “Women at War” ( Ice. Kona fer í stríð), a comedy-drama film written, produced and directed by Benedikt Erlingsson, and starring Halldóra Geirharðsdóttir. The film received an ovation and good remarks by the audience.
The Embassy was represented by William Freyr Huntingdon-Williams, Deputy Head of Mission, who participated at the Opening Ceremony and gave an introduction speech before the screening of “Women at War”.
The festival was supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers and the Icelandic chocolate brand OmNom contributed to the opening reception.
