Ambassador’s Visit to Beijing Organizing Committee for 2022 Olympics

Ambassador Thorir Ibsen and Kristín Aranka Thorsteinsdóttir Consul at the Embassy of Iceland in Beijing met with Ms. HAN Zirong, Secretary General of the Beijing Organizing Committee for 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. They discussed with her and her team the progress of the preparations for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and visited the Big Air jumping ramp for snowboards and free style skiing.

The 2022 Winter Olympics are scheduled to take place from 4 to 20 February 2022 in Beijing and towns in the neighboring Hebei province. For the first time, the Winter Olympics will be hosted by a city that previously hosted the Summer Olympics. Beijing also announced that the 26 venues for these sports would be running on entirely renewable energy.
